Hi, I'm Emma Deas

I am a talented software engineer with a passion for developing scalable, reusable code. I have experience building full stack applications using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and React/Redux. I love hunting for bugs, collaborating with teammates and using my creativity to solve technical problems. I have built a clone of Splitewise, a Javascript/HTML5 game as well as a happy hour finder application using the MERN Stack.

Projects

  • SpliceWise

Clone of SplitWise, a web application tool for friends to track bills and other shared expenses.
Implemented multiple React components for unique forms, lists, and pages and reused components to facilitate DRY and reusable code.
Executed a two-pronged approach to create payments required for each bill by creating RESTful routes in the backend using Ruby on Rails.
Developed encrypted User Authentication on backend and dynamic frontend rendering based on session state and cookies.

  • Jamma

Single page web application to display happy hours and relevant information using user’s location.
Implemented full stack application using a MongoDB on a Node Express architecture with JWT and Passport authentication.
Mapped user data on user happy hour requests through Google Geocoding API to process resulting coordinates.
Orchestrated engineering workflow with 2 other members to optimize development and enable a continuous development and integration process.

  • Puffy Fish

Executed an interactive game similar to flappy bird using pure Javascript and HTML5 Canvas.
Authored collision logic for game to end upon user crash with seaweed and hook objects and incrementing points upon collision with coins.
Implemented dynamic canvas sprite movement by fluctuating rendering process on subsequent animation frames.
